EcoLock Kelowna will set a high standard for green commercial development in Canada.
The EcoLock facility will demonstrate cost-effective, sustainable commercial development that can be located anywhere in North America.
The fully climate controlled, multi-function building will be a five-floor, 112,000-square foot self-storage facility and co-workspace that will self-generate 105% of its electricity through the use of on-site solar panels. It will also collect, filter and reuse rainwater within a 62,000-litre tank, located under the building, for all planting irrigation.
The project received unanimous approval from the City of Kelowna and construction begins this fall, with the opening scheduled in the winter of 2019.
